A lot of
time has passed since June 2008 as passions concerning a choice of seven
miracles of Russia have settled. People looked over internet, voted, send
messages, worried about the elects. Inhabitants of Komi Republic were happy to
find out, that representative of Komi won. We proposed as a candidate «Aeration
columns» - the rest of stones on the top of the mountain Manpupunyor, witch is
situated in the upper of Pechora and her tributary Iluch.
Not many
people know about pillars, not many people saw them, so nobody could believe,
that stone pillars, that are situated so far away could become a hiking symbol
not only of our republic, but also of Russia. 
It’s
difficult to reach Manpupunyor even now.
Till thirtieth years there has visited no more than 10 Europeans. Geologists
have found them when searched for ore. In 1843 the famous geologist of time A.
Kaizerling accompanied by deer caravan has reached them from anybody of unknown
village Yst’-Liagi. Later E. Egorov (1887), A. Chernov, V. Varsanof’eva, T. Dobrolubova,
A. Aleshkov, G. Chernov (professors), famous
Russian and Soviet geologists, also reached them. Many of these remarkable,
outstanding people have given there names to tops and glaciers of Polar and Sub
polar Ural mountains. Let’s bend heads before these people, passed a hard way
to tell to the world about this place. Even today the advanced techniques are
not capable easily and without problems deliver interested persons to mountain
of stone idols.
Organizers
of competition «Miracle of Russia from height of bird’s flight» also have faced
this problem. They could not reach this place 3 weeks by the helicopter. 
On internet
source the mountain Manpupunyor (Bolvanois - komi language) was a cult place of
the people mansi. Unfortunately, it is not truth. The mountain Ialpingner was a
sacral place for voguls (modern mansi). Vera Varsanofeva (professor of geology)
has told about it in the book «Life of mountains»: «Voguls, wandering here with
herds of reindeers, tell that these stone columns were 7 giants witch went
through mountains to Siberia to destroy vogul people. Dut when they reached the
top Manpupunyor there leader saw Ialpigner – sacred mountain of vogul. In
horror he has dropped on the top Koip («drum») the shaman and his companions have
hardened on a place».
Today the
top is not visited, but practically everyone can get here to see our «miracle».
Columns are splinters of rocks, the biggest of
them is «Shaman» (36 meters in height), it costs in a distance from the others. 
Inhabitants of Sverdlovsk were the first
tourists in these parts, they have left after themselves documentary
acknowledgement. Since then many tourists from all countries of Europe have
visited these places. Someone had to make two-month travel of the highest
category of complexity to come nearer to this mountain.
To get on
mountain of stone idols is possible in the next ways:
1) To order
the helicopter in the city of Ukhta. Quantity of
seats - 18. If you do not have time for a long tourist route you can back return
after fact-finding excursion by the same helicopter to Ukhta,
whence by the plane or by train it is easy to get to Moscow and other cities of
the European part of Russia. The general duration of a trip from a start before
returning back to Ukhta will occupy 6-8 hours. Minuses:
weather can deteriorate at any moment and without day.
2) If into your plans enters to make more long
travel, there is a possibility coming back from excursion to mountain Manpupunyor
by the helicopter to land over upper courses of
Pechora and Ilych and go downwards on the chosen river on tourist courts.
Also there is a possibility to leave equipment, the equipment for an alloy, the
basic part of products while lifting on mountain is made (things are watched by
the watchman). The group departs on mountain then comes back on foot into place
where things are left. The group goes two days on northern taiga (30
kilometres), begins an alloy across Pechora or Ust-Ilych to settlement Jaksha,
and there is known in all the world farm of elks and a reserve museum.
3) At small
groups on number the route beginning in settlements Ust-Ilych or Kyria uses the
greatest popularity. Having got there from a city Ukhta
on passing transport the group number to 4 persons can employ a boat with a
conductor which lifts group upwards on the river prior to the beginning of one
of the tracks conducting to bottom of Manpupunyor. Returning will occur by same
means. It is the most suitable variant for people who do not have possibility
to pay the helicopter and there is no time enough.
4) This
variant of rest for strong and active people. From the city of Ivdelja through settlement Vizhaj by the car
Ural Mountains-watch to settlement Ushma. Therefrom to mountain Otorten and
further to Manpupunera on foot. If there is a desire to go with light baggage
there - it is back possible to turn back for two weeks. If there is an interest
to an alloy on upper courses of Pechora that it is necessary to plan on travel
not less than twenty days. The pedestrian variant to the greatest degree
approaches those tourists that do not wish to care of acquisition of allowing
documents on reserve Pechoro-Ilychskogo visiting.
5) The last
in our list, but it becomes far not the last on a saturation a route beginning
from the city of Vuktyl. On a line along a gas pipeline «light of the north»
the tourist group gets to river Ilych sources, whence can begin a long
floatable route on this most beautiful river of Northern Ural Mountains. Having
alloyed to a mouth of inflow of Ydzhyd Ljaga, the group can make a three-day
pedestrian radial route on top of Manpupunyor. The termination of a floatable

NOTE:
All
described routes pass in reserve territory for which visiting it is necessary
to attend in advance to acquisition of permissions in its management located in
settlement Iakcha.
